Finding a Korean church in Auckland

For many Korean families, a church is the first community they connect with after arriving — a place for language, friendship, practical help, and Korean-language children’s programmes. Auckland has the largest concentration of Korean churches in New Zealand, especially across the North Shore and central suburbs.

How to find one near you

• Ask locally first. Korean grocery stores, community noticeboards, and other Korean families are often the fastest route to a recommendation that fits your denomination and language preference.
• Search by suburb. Churches cluster where Korean families live — North Shore (Albany, Takapuna), and central/east Auckland. Browse Korean-friendly services in Auckland and North Shore for nearby businesses and community context.
• Search “한인교회 + suburb” on Google Maps or Naver — most congregations keep a current website or Facebook page even when no central list exists. Many community boards (e.g. nzkoreapost, kowistory) also carry church notices.
• Check service times directly. Service times and programmes change — confirm on the church’s own website, Facebook page, or by phone before visiting.

What Korean churches often provide beyond services

• Newcomer help — informal advice on schools, housing, and settling in.
• Korean-language children’s & youth programmes — including weekend Korean classes at some churches.
• Community events — meals, holidays (Chuseok, Seollal), and concerts.
