Korean nail, lash and beauty salons in Auckland: what each service is and where to find one

Korean beauty salons have a following well beyond the Korean community in Auckland, known for glossy gel nails, natural-looking lashes, semi-permanent brows and skin-care facials. If you’ve seen “Korean lash lift”, “jelly nails” or “반영구” and weren’t sure what to ask for, this is a plain-language guide to each service — and then nine Korean beauty studios from our directory, named and grouped by area, so you can go straight to one near you.

What Korean beauty salons are known for

• Nails: a neat, glossy, minimal style. “Jelly” and “syrup” nails use sheer, layered gel that light glows through for a translucent, glass-like finish; designs tend to be clean and soft rather than heavily decorated.
• Lashes: both the Korean lash lift (reshaping your own lashes into a natural curl, no extensions) and eyelash extensions (individual synthetic lashes for length and volume).
• Semi-permanent brows (반영구): microblading, powder or ombré brows, and combination brows, to shape and fill brows for a year or more.
• Skin (K-facials): deep-cleansing, hydrating and brightening facials, often finished with a relaxing massage.
• Waxing: a common add-on alongside the above.

Nails, simplified

Korean nail work is usually done in gel for durability and shine. The signature looks are translucent: jelly nails layer sheer colour so it looks lit from within (like coloured glass), and syrup nails do the same in warm honey and amber tones. The overall style leans minimal and tidy, so it suits a natural, everyday finish as much as a statement one. Ask for a shape (round, almond, square) and whether you want a subtle design or a single sheer colour.

Lashes: lift or extensions?

• Korean lash lift: lifts and sets your own natural lashes into an upward curl using a gentle, low-odour solution, for a soft, wide-awake look with no synthetic lashes added. It’s the lower-maintenance, most natural option, and grows out gradually as your lashes cycle.
• Extensions: attach individual synthetic lashes to your own, so you can dial in length, curl and volume (classic, hybrid or volume). They give more drama and usually need infills every couple of weeks as your natural lashes grow out.

Semi-permanent brows (반영구)

Semi-permanent makeup shapes and fills your brows so they hold for around one to three years before fading, with a colour top-up often suggested in the first year or two. The main Korean techniques are microblading (fine, hair-like strokes for a natural look), powder or ombré brows (a soft, shaded, makeup-like finish), and combination brows that blend both. Oily skin tends to fade faster. Because this is a form of cosmetic tattooing, choose a clean, licensed studio and follow the aftercare they give you.

Skin and facials

Many studios offer K-facials: deep-cleansing, hydrating and brightening skin-care treatments, often with a relaxing massage. These are non-medical beauty treatments. Anything medical or injectable (Botox, fillers, laser, skin needling) belongs with a cosmetic clinic rather than a beauty salon, so browse our clinics category for those.

A word on what “Korean” means here: these studios are Korean-branded or do Korean-style work, and several are Korean-run, but only some of them state Korean-language service anywhere we can check. Each listing page records what we actually know. If being looked after in Korean matters to you, ask when you book rather than assuming.

One thing worth saying plainly: most of these lead with lashes, brows or skin rather than nails. Judy Nail Beauty is the only dedicated Korean nail salon we’ve verified so far, though several of the others do manicures and pedicures alongside their main work. Auckland CBD

• miru Hair & Beauty Clinic (미루 헤어 & 뷰티 클리닉) — 58 Fort Street, a short walk from the waterfront. A Korean hair salon that also does eyelash extensions and semi-permanent makeup, so you can sort hair and a beauty touch-up in one visit.
• SALON2020 (살롱2020) — 7 Anzac Avenue, a few minutes from Britomart. Going in the city since 2011; hair alongside beauty and nail services, in Korean or English.
• Yuniwax — 1A/120 Customs Street West, near the Viaduct. A Korean-run salon where waxing is the specialty (Brazilian, Hollywood, bikini, leg, facial and men’s, plus sugaring), alongside brow and lash tinting, brow shaping, manicures, pedicures and facials.

North Shore

• Charmzone Beauty (참존뷰티) — 243 Rosedale Road, Albany. The Albany studio of Charmzone (참존), a Korean skincare and cosmetics brand, for skin and facial treatments discussed in Korean.
• Judy Nail Beauty (쥬디 네일 뷰티) — a unit on Onewa Road, Northcote. A Korean nail salon on the main Onewa Road strip: manicures, pedicures and gel nails.
• K-massage&Skincare — 3A Alexander Avenue, Torbay. A small, women-only studio offering Korean-inspired facials, HIFU and RF lifting, gua sha, and facial and body massage. Appointment-based rather than walk-in.
• Young Beauty (영뷰티) — inside Sunnynook Link Pharmacy, 4/146 Sunnynook Road, Sunnynook. Korean-style skin and body treatments: facials, HIFU lifting and plasma treatments.

Central and west Auckland

• Hey Lash (헤이래쉬) — 38 Rossmay Terrace, Morningside, between Kingsland and Mt Eden. A lash studio run by lash artist Hayley Kim, doing hybrid and cashmere volume extensions and a Korean keratin lash lift.
• LASHFOREVER Studio (래시포에버 스튜디오) — 2A Kings Road, Mount Roskill. Lash extensions and lash lifts alongside semi-permanent makeup: nano brows and lip blush. By appointment.

East Auckland

• TOP 2 TOE (탑투토) — 29/15 Bishop Lenihan Place, East Tāmaki, an easy drive from Botany. A Korean salon doing hair and beauty in one visit, as the name suggests, with Korean or English throughout.

Tips for a first visit

• Bring reference photos; a look translates better than a description, especially for nails and brows.
• Ask what’s included: some prices cover removal, a design, or aftercare, and some don’t.
• Check timing: a full set of lash extensions or a brow appointment can take a couple of hours, so allow for it.
• For semi-permanent brows, expect a patch test and a shaping consult first, and a colour top-up later.
