ANK Taekwondo Academy trains out of its own hall on Wairau Road in Glenfield, so classes are not squeezed into a hired school gym. The name stands for Aotearoa and Korea, and the academy is led by Grandmaster Cheongun Jeon: a Yong In University graduate, an 8th dan recognised by World Taekwondo, a Kukkiwon poom and dan grading judge, and World Olympic Taekwondo Federation New Zealand National Director.
Classes cover the standard Kukkiwon syllabus (basics, poomsae forms and sparring) and run for children through to adults, with coloured belts earned by grading. As with most dojangs, a trial class is the usual way to start.
